ING will close the 'app' on August 17

ING has decided to transfer the main functionalities of its Twyp instant payment service to its own mobile application and close the platform, which will cease to be operational on August 17. The Dutch bank once opted for this application, which also allowed cash to be withdrawn when shopping at stores such as supermarkets, and was one of the last entities to join Bizum, the platform shared by the rest of the banking system in Spain for payments instant.

This has been transferred by the bank in a communication addressed to customers in which it begins by explaining that Twyp was born as "a small app full of the desire to innovate", which has grown to launch services such as payment between friends before Bizum existed and allow, for the first time in Spain, withdraw money in shops. “The boy (Twyp) has become big for us. As fathers and mothers of the 'creatureapp', we have seen it grow (and very quickly) in recent years (...). A vital trip and a complete success to which we now want to give a bigger place”, indicates ING in its communication to clients.

In this way, the main functionalities of Twyp will move to the ING app, so that in order to continue enjoying them, users must have a 'Payroll Account' at ING. Thus, from this application, according to the bank's information to its customers, it will be possible to continue making cash withdrawals in stores, although instant payments are now limited to Bizum. "You will be able to continue paying your friends with Bizum or withdrawing cash when shopping with the new functionality" Withdraw money in shops "", explains the note from the Dutch entity

Customers with Twyp will still be able to launch this tool, but only until August 17. The bank informs in the letter that it has sent to the clients that the balance they have in this application must be withdrawn before said deadline. As a practical note, note that they must click on the balance of their app and enter the option "move to my bank". After leaving the balance to zero, they can close the Twyp account by entering the profile, the "help" option and pressing "delete account".
