Indonesia alerts to the possibility of the recurrence of the Sonda tsunami

The National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) warned today against the possibility of a repeat of a new tsunami on the coast of the Sonda Strait, between the Indonesian islands of Java and Sumatra, due to the ongoing activity of the Anak Krakatau volcano.

The impact of the waves, caused by a submarine landslide following the eruption of the volcano, shows a provisional balance of 168 dead, 30 missing and 745 injured.
