The holder of the Court of Instruction 1 of Valverde del Caminio (Huelva) has decreed provisional detention, communicated and without bail for Bernardo Montoya, the author confessed of the death of the young teacher from Zamora Laura Luelmo in the Huelva town of El Campillo (Huelva) .
The decision was adopted after taking a statement, in a hearing that began shortly before eight o'clock yesterday afternoon and that has lasted until one o'clock in the morning.
The judge investigates, as reported in a statement by the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA), for the crimes of murder, illegal detention and sexual assault.
In the appearance of precautionary measures, the prosecution and the private prosecution requested prison for the detainee while the defense opposed this measure.
The judge considers the prison measure necessary because of the seriousness of the offense, the possibility of eliminating evidence and the risk of escape and in order to avoid the risk of committing other criminal acts of the same severity as those now caused.
For this judicial declaration, the detainee has had a new lawyer when he renounced his defense on his own initiative that was assigned to him at the time following his arrest last Tuesday.
Montoya left this morning the Commandery of Huelva, which remained since Wednesday, and throughout the day he has been waiting for the judge to order him to appear before her to testify, remaining under the custody of the Civil Guard in the quarter of Valverde del Camino.
Upon his arrival the judicial offices have been rebuked by a dozen young people from El Campillo, the town where the murdered girl lived.
Montoya was arrested last Tuesday and, after several hours in the barracks of the Civil Guard Valverde del Camino, he was transferred to the Commandery of Huelva, where he confessed to be the author of the death of Laura Luelmo. EFE
