The Minister of Health of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, has stated that if the containment measures to stop coronavirus infections in the capital are not effective “if it is necessary to close Madrid, it will be done.”
Pedro Sánchez: “I do not contemplate a confinement in the country”
This is what Ruiz Escudero affirms in an interview that publishes this Sunday the newspaper ABC, in which it indicates that if these measures do not work “we would value limiting the movement to other basic health areas or we will make decisions of a more general nature for the entire autonomous community.”
In the opinion of the Minister of Health, “the closure of the city should be discussed naturally”, although, he adds, “whenever it can be avoided, we will try to avoid it, our goal is to continue taking balanced measures to maintain economic activity as much as possible and we can live with the virus. ”
In the interview, he explains that “decisions will be made according to the evolution of the epidemiological situation and the tension in the hospitals.”
As elDiario.es could know this Saturday, the hospitals in the Community are at an occupancy level of around 80%, while in the rest of the country it remains at 70%. Specific, 18 of them already have an occupation greater than 90%.
