Proof of their commitment to female talent are the numerous initiatives to promote and develop gender equality that they currently have in place, among which the female leadership development programs such as Woman in Leadership or Talent, which reinforce the network of contacts and make female talent visible in the company. #WomenHacker, diversity in the technological field
Four years ago, Telefónica decided to support this social reality through #WomenHacker. The initiative arose as a necessity when observing the conclusions of various studies where it was concluded that from the 15 year old girls lose their interest in science and technology for no reason, and decide to pursue careers in health and care, or focused on letters.
To stop this loss, #MujeresHacker was born with a specific objective: boost the community of women scientists of the company to create references on the smallest ones and make sure they do not lose interest in these technological careers.
“Cybersecurity is probably the branch of computing with the least presence of women, however, we have a lot to contribute. The idea is that women who want to dedicate themselves to cybersecurity can develop their careers in this field without being a gender minority an obstacle to developing their passion “, explains Carmen Torrano, an expert in IoT & OT Cybersecurity at Telefónica Tech and an ambassador for the #MujeresHacker initiative.
