Hyundai Motor appoints the German Albert Biermann head of R & D

South Korea's largest vehicle manufacturer, Hyundai Motor, today announced the appointment of German engineer Albert Biermann as its new director of the group's research and development division.

Biermann will be the first non-South Korean to lead the technological development of the world's fourth largest automaker, as the company explains in a statement released today.

The 61-year-old German, who is responsible for the BMW M high-performance range, joined the South Korean group in 2015 to lead the launch of the high-performance N line and will now be in charge of strengthening the technological base of the three brands of the group; Hyundai, Kia and Genesis.

Among the other movements announced today by the Seoul-based carmaker is the appointment of former executive vice president Sung Hwan-cho as deputy director of the R & D division, to support the new work of Biermann.
