Huawei sanctions the two employees who congratulated the New Year on the official Twitter using an iPhone


Huawei Technologies has decided sanction two of your employees for sending New Year greetings on the company's official Twitter account using an iPhone, as announced in an internal note.

Huawei, whose phones compete with Apple's iPhone, posted a tweet on New Year's Day to his followers with a "Happy 2019!" In a tweet that ended with the text «Through Twitter for iPhone».

The publication has been removed already, but the screenshots of the tweet of the Chinese telecommunications giant spread across social networks: «The traitor has revealed himself», commented a user on the Weibo microblog, in a comment that had more than 600 "likes".

In an internal Huawei memo dated January 3, the corporate vice president and board director, Chen Lifang, said that "The incident caused damage to the Huawei brand." The error occurred when the external social media manager Sapient experienced «VPN problems» with a desktop computer, so he used an iPhone with a roaming SIM card to send the message at midnight, Huawei noted in the note.

Censored in China

Twitter, as well as several foreign services such as Facebook Inc and Alphabet Inc, is blocked in China, where there is a strong control over the Internet. To gain access, users need a virtual private network (VPN) connection.

Huawei has refused to comment on internal matters when he was contacted by Reuters. Sapient did not immediately respond to a request for comments sent through the contact form on its website.

In the memo, Huawei has added that the error showed a breach of the procedures and the supervision of management. He said he had demoted two responsible employees and reduced his monthly salaries by 5,000 yuan ($ 728.27). The salary range of one of the employees, Huawei's digital marketing director, will also be frozen for 12 months, the document summarizes.
