Huawei has begun to accept the installation of applications developed by third parties in the devices of its ecosystem of ‘wearables’, starting with the Fitify fitness ‘app’ on your Watch GT2 Pro smartwatch.
Smart watches Huawei use their own operating system LiteOS, instead of WearOS developed by Google, so until now they did not allow the installation of third-party applications. Now, Huawei has accepted the Fitify training planning app on its App Gallery app store, and created a proof of concept of how this ‘software’ works on your Watch GT2 Pro smartwatch, as collected by GSMArena.
The Fitify watch application complements the main application of the service for mobile devices, also available in Huawei’s Gallgery App, and has been developed using Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) and using up to five integration kits.
Although at the moment the openness of the ecosystem is limited to only an ‘app’ and a smart watch model, Huawei has committed to provide “comprehensive full spectrum operational support for all application content providers“, according to GSMArena.
