HPS San Silvestre meets the challenge: 12,000 runners - La Provincia

The Hospital Perpetuo Socorro San Silvestre of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria continues to beat its best brands and gets its challenge this year to get 12,000 solidarity brokers, a thousand more than in its last edition. The most multitudinous and solidary race in the Canary Islands is consolidated on the podium of the most numerous year-end events at the national level, along with those of Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona. In fact, and taking into account the ratio between the number of inhabitants and participants, it undoubtedly occupies the first place.

Everything is already under way so that this seventeenth edition, which will be retransmitted by Televisión Canaria, will be unforgettable. The six-kilometer circuit will once again have an exit and finish at León y Castillo street, at the height of the Romano Park, and will feature both children's and adults' animation, solidary warm-up, live music. In addition, there are many surprises so that one edition plus the smile and the good vibes are the dominant tone among the people who participate, whether with friends, family or pets.

The city is already adorned for the occasion with two giant totems at both ends of the Maritime Avenue at the height of the Roman Park. In addition, an exhibition of 120 banners with 240 photographs of people who have participated in the last two years is scattered along streets such as Bravo Murillo, Luis Doreste Silva, León and Castillo and Tomás Morales under the heading of "city 100×100 solidarity".

84,000 euros of revenue

And it is that solidarity is a fundamental value in HPS San Silvestre given that the full amount of the inscriptions goes to the social projects of the beneficiary entities. These non-profit organizations are the Spanish Association against Cancer, the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid, Doctors of the World, Children's Villages, Alejandro Da Silva Foundation, Unicef and the Red Cross. The race will allow to distribute a total of 84,000 euros.

But the beneficial nature of the trial is reinforced this year by the bone marrow donation campaign carried out by Hospital Perpetuo Socorro, the main sponsor of the race. After three days in the health center for donors closed with remarkable participation is added the race that begins tomorrow, December 30, the Marcos Yánez runner to raise awareness of the importance of this gesture that saves lives. Departing at 16.00 from the Faro de Maspalomas will make a trip through different points of the island to complete more than 100 kilometers with goal at HPS San Silvestre.

Public transport will be free again, this time from 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm, which will make it possible to avoid crowds and parking problems. It will be enough to show the dorsal of the test to the drivers of Guaguas Municipales and Global. The Canarian Foundation for the Promotion of Adapted Special Transport will also offer free transfers to those whose disability prevents them from accessing a guagua whether or not users are registered in this service.

The lines of Municipal Buses affected by the urban route of the solidarity test will be 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 17, 25, 54, 64, 70, 80, 82, 91 and L1. Therefore, the City has enabled a detour plan to close streets such as León and Castillo, Rafael Cabrera, Venegas and Luis Doreste Silva, although the access of the neighbors to the garages will be facilitated.
