On June 1, the new time slots of the new electricity bill. The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge launched this measure for those consumers covered by the Voluntary Price for the Small Consumer.
In this way, consumption has three bands: rush hour, that goes from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. This is the time when tolls and charges will be the most expensive. The second strip is the flat hour, which runs from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m., and finally from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The cheapest strip is the valley hour. This section runs from 12 at night to 8 in the morning, as well as on weekends and holidays.
This means that the first step to make the electricity rate cheaper is to consume it in the early morning hours, or to do it on weekends or holidays. The problem is the unusual schedule to put, for example, a washing machine at 3 in the morning.

On the other hand, the CNMC gives some keys to reduce the price of electricity. The first of all is to adapt the contracted power to the real needs of the consumer. This is modifiable every 12 months. Another possibility is to avoid simultaneous consumption to reduce that power. In addition, and as is obvious, it is to try to consume the light in the off-peak hour, although it is complicated because it is the section that it includes at dawn every day.
Experts point out that this new electricity bill It will not be decisive when lowering the price end of receipt. Everything will depend on the consumption that is made and also on the time it is done. Some even point out that it may be more expensive for those who have the tariff with hourly discrimination.
The Government intends to shift consumption to off-peak hours, where distribution and transportation are less saturated. One of the biggest benefits of this new bill is for users of electric vehicles. If they are charged at night they will be accepted at the cheapest rate.
In addition, consumers will be able to contract two different powers: one for peak and flat periods, and another for off-peak times.
