Spanish hotels have registered 15.4 million overnight stays in January, which is 0.4% more that in the same month of 2018, according to the data released this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
In this way, hotel overnight stays have chained four consecutive months of year-on-year promotions, although January has been the most moderate of them all. This slight rebound is due to 0.2% increase in overnight stays made by foreignerss and the increase by 0.8% of those made by Spaniards.
The average stay fell by 1.4% in the first month of the year compared to the same month of 2018, standing at 3 overnight stays per traveler. According to Statistics, in January 45.1% of the places offered were covered, with an annual decrease of 1.4%. The degree of occupancy by places on weekends has added 49.2%, the same as a year before.
The annual rate of the Hotel Price Index (HPI) it has been at 0.9% in January, three tenths more than in December and 2.3 points below the rate of a year ago.
