Hospitalizations for COVID-19 fall again, but Health registers 294 deaths since Friday

Despite the fact that the seventh wave of Covid-19 has grown rapidly due to the new Omicron variants, the data indicates that it is losing steam very slowly. The number of people hospitalized for coronavirus continues to drop to 11,579, although bed occupancy remains high (24.44) slightly down compared to Friday.

Regarding ICU occupancy, it stands at 6.3%, with 547 people in intensive care. The incidence rate in people over 60 years of age stands at 1,018 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 1,158 last Friday.

The Ministry of Health has registered 41,683 new cases of coronavirus since Friday: this brings the total number of people who have been infected so far in the pandemic to 13,132,159.

By communities, the Valencian Community is the one with the most cases (5,423), followed by Madrid (5,366), Catalonia (4,766), Andalusia (4,086) and Castilla y León (3,335).

As for the deceased, the Ministry led by Carolina Darias has added 294 more since Friday, which places the number of deaths since March 2020 at 109,642.
