The Ministry of Health has notified 19,979 new coronavirus infections during the weekend and a total of 401 deaths, in the same period. The new infections are distributed as follows: 4,309 in Andalusia, 2,945 in Catalonia, 2,109 in Madrid, 1,669 in Castilla y León, 1,509 in Euskadi. Last Friday, 10,853 cases of coronavirus were registered in Spain and a total of 294 deaths. The accumulated incidence rate stands at 275.51, while last Friday it did so at a figure of 307.30 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Seven days ago, to continue with the comparison, Health registered 25,886 new infections and 512 deaths. Both the number of deaths and the number of infections fell throughout the past week.

All the indicators have been decreasing, although the slowest is that of the deceased. Experts positively value the change in this dynamic, however, they warn that Spain continues to have high levels of incidence and the arrival of Christmas worries about social gatherings and also because some communities are still very vulnerable in the middle of de-escalation.

All the provinces in the last 14 days have reduced or contained the number of infections. Spain has gone from 20,000 to 10,000 cases a day in the last month, although the incidences in most of the territory remain high. Only seven provinces are below 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks.

Finally this monday Moderna has requested the authorization of its vaccine against COVID-19 for its use in the European Union tas confirm that it has an efficiency of 94.1%.
