The Ministry of Health has registered 2,255 new cases of coronavirus this Friday. Of these, 922 have been diagnosed in the last day. The Community with the most infected according to the Health report released today is Catalonia, with 1,105 (133 in the last 24 hours). In total, since the start of the pandemic, 272,421 people confirmed by tests have been infected.
After Catalonia, Aragon is the second region with the most cases: 305, of which 298 correspond to the last day; Madrid follows, with 227 (107 between yesterday and today); Euskadi, with 128 and of them, 49 in the last 24 hours; Andalusia, with 114 and 70 and Murcia, with 107 and 38.
Regarding the deceased, Health has added three to its global balance, bringing the total to 28,432. Of these, ten have died as of the last seven days.
This week there have been 14 ICU admissions, which have occurred in nine autonomous communities. Catalonia is the one that has had the most, with four, followed by Castilla-La Mancha and Aragón, with two each, and Andalusia, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Galicia and Euskadi, all with one. The rest of the regions and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla have not reported any.
The total number of hospitalizations also continues to grow. As of the last seven days, 327 people have had to be admitted, compared to 228 the previous week, dated July 17.
This Friday, the Community of Madrid has announced that next week it will take new preventive measures to avoid infections and that they will consist, above all, in limiting meetings of people and greater control over nightlife. The regional government studies initiatives that avoid crowds of people with the option of limiting the number of terrace users, as it has advanced in statements to Onda Madrid, collected by Europa Press, the Deputy Minister of Public Health and Plan COVID-19, Antonio Shoemaker.
Zapatero has assured that if new measures are to be taken regarding nightlife, or any other activity, it will be done because “the fundamental thing is to have the infection controlled.”
Also, Castilla-La Mancha will force nightclubs to register the phones of customers who access from 01:00 in the morning to locate them if there are outbreaks. It has been announced by President Emiliano García-Page, who has explained that one of the purposes is to avoid closings. The regulations will be approved next week.
