The Government of Spain has closed with China a purchase of more than 550 million masks, 5.5 million rapid tests to detect the coronavirus, a total of 950 respirators and 11 million gloves thanks to an operation worth 432 million euros.
This was announced this Wednesday by the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, during an appearance at the Palacio de la Moncloa in which he added that the material has been “paid in full” and that, specifically, includes more than 550 million different types of masks, both surgical and respiratory protection, whose supply agreement has been closed with three suppliers and will last for eight weeks.
Along with it, Spain has also closed agreements with two suppliers for the purchase of 5.5 million rapid tests to be delivered during March and April, and two other agreements with suppliers in the Asian country that will supply 950 assisted breathing equipment between April and June.
To this is added the agreement with two other suppliers They will deliver 11 million gloves that will be supplied over four weeks.
During her speech, Illa insisted that there has been no confiscation of materials at customs, as the Community of Madrid has denounced in the last week, and that it is necessary “End these hoaxes that do not help at all”.
In this regard, he made it clear that the Executive “He has supported, will support and will continue to support all the purchase actions they make, as is his duty”, the autonomous communities to meet their health needs.
