Health adapts the criteria of restrictive measures in the Canary Islands

The Governing Council in its session today, Thursday, October 8, has approved a Government Agreement which adapts some regulations related to the containment of COVID-19 that will enter into force after its publication in the BOC this Friday. Specifically, and among other points, se adapt epidemiological criteria to establish the restrictive measures in gauges and safety distances. It establishes, among other novelties, the obligation to go to health centers with a hygienic or surgical mask. The agreement also establishes the prohibition of smoking while traveling on public roads as it is not possible to guarantee the maintenance of the safety distance.
Regarding the events, the government agreement reminds that the celebration of the same will be conditioned by the epidemiological situation on the island on the scheduled date and that it is the event organizer who must consult the public information available. Also, ehe Government recalls that events may not be held on those islands that are classified as high transmission.
For these purposes, islands with a high level of transmission those in which the cumulative incidence of cases diagnosed in the last 7 days, presents each and every one of the following criteria: 1) that the island exceeds 50 cases / 100,000 inhabitants; 2) that any municipality on the island exceeds 100 cases / 100,000 inhabitants, has more than 2 sporadic cases and presents an increase equal to or greater than 10% with respect to the average of the accumulated incidents of the previous two weeks.
Islands with a high level of transmission will abandon said condition when the cumulative incidence of cases diagnosed in the last 7 days, in the insular area, does not exceed 50 cases / 100,000 inhabitants or all the municipalities of that island that had previously exceeded 3 definitional criteria of high transmission have decreased the cumulative incidence of cases diagnosed in the last 7 days for 10 days.
The cumulative incidence of cases diagnosed in the last 7 days will be evaluated weekly by the General Directorate of Public Health and will be published on the "Covid Portal" website of the Government of the Canary Islands.
On islands with a high level of transmission, mass events or acts will not be allowed or authorized in which more than 10 people participate, except for those carried out in accordance with the strict security measures established in the Government Agreement and without prejudice to possible modifications based on epidemiological circumstances and the restaurant premises must close at 00:00 hours. Remember that ordinary scheduled public cultural activity and federated sports competitions held without the public are exempt from these restrictions.
Let us remember that the Ministry of Health, through the General Directorate of Public Health, you will be able to reduce the capacity allowed for the different activities regulated in this Agreement depending on the epidemiological situation.
The agreement simplifies the processing of permit applications for the celebration of events and clarifies the non-submission to the authorization regime the following activities when they are carried out routinely and not sporadically: wedding ceremonies, communions, baptisms or other similar rituals or celebrations derived from these because they are subject to the provisions of section 3.18, wakes and burials because they are subject to the provisions of section 3.17, sports celebrations without public because They are subject to the provisions of sections 3.14 and 3.15 as well as ordinary acts of religious worship because they are subject to the provisions of section 3.16. These activities must be carried out observing the general measures of interpersonal safety distance, mandatory use of masks and adequate hygiene and respiratory etiquette, as well as the specific measures established for each type of activity.
