HBO is taking the first steps to make a new prequel to “Game of Thrones” (2011-2019) about short novels “Tales of Dunk and Egg” (Tales of Dunk and Egg) by George RR Martin, Variety said today.
The magazine clarified that this television project is in a very early stage of their development, so it is not certain that it will finally see the light.
But he also stressed that the idea of this series is a priority for HBO when trying extend the fabulous and historic success which he achieved with “Game of Thrones”.
The short novels of “Tales of Dunk and Egg” focus on the adventures of the characters Dunk and Egg and take place a little less than a century before what is narrated in “A Song of Ice and Fire” (A Song of Ice and Fire), which is the central saga of the “Game of Thrones” universe.
Three short novels have been published in the “Tales of Dunk and Egg” series: “The Hedge Knight”, “The Sworn Sword” and “The Mystery Knight”.
These three stories were also compiled in the volume “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” (The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms).
For now, nothing has been announced about creative team behind this project.
If it were finally made, “Tales of Dunk and Egg” it would be the second prequel to “Game of Thrones” tras “House of the Dragon” (The House of the Dragon), which will focus on the history of House Targaryen.
