English Lewis hamilton (Mercedes), seven-time world champion and leader of the contest, marked the best time this Friday in the second free practice for him Grand Prix of Portugal, the third of the World Cup Formula One, which takes place at the Portimao circuit, in the Algarve.
On his fastest lap, Hamilton covered the 4,653 meters of the track on a soft tire one minute, 19 seconds and 837 hundredths, 143 less than the Dutch Max verstappen (Red bull), which he leads by one point (44 to 43) in the championship.
Finnish Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) finished third – at 344 thousandths – a session in which the Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) Y Fernando Alonso (Alpine) enrolled fourth and fifth in the times table, 360 and 383 thousandths, respectively, of the sevenfold English world champion.
The third and last free practice will be held this Saturday, hours before the qualifying session, which will order the starting line-up for the Sunday race. Expected to 66 laps, to complete a route of 306.5 kilometers.
