Half of Spaniards could not "live" without internet on their mobile | Technology

45% of Internet users claim to be connected to the network almost constantly actively. It is one of the data that reveals the report Navegantes in the network of the Association for Media Research (AIMC). If we add to this group of users who declare access to the Internet "several times a day", the figure reaches almost all respondents, 89.5%.

Almost half (49%) of the 20,000 interviewees who completed the survey (conducted between October 16 and December 9, 2018) believe that "I could not live without the internet on my mobile phone". They use it mainly to check email (84.9%) and instant messaging (78.4%). The smartphone it is still the favorite device for boaters to access the internet with 90.1% of users. They are followed by the laptop (68.7), the desktop computer (55.9%), the tablet (47.7%) and the television (27.1%).

Regarding the device for reading electronic journals, the mobile phone is placed for the first time as a favorite, being used by 66.8% (three points higher than the figure recorded in the previous edition of this study). 45% of users read only the electronic version of the newspapers, while 8% read them exclusively on paper. However, 31.9% read both versions and very few do not read any (14.6%).

The results of the study show that there is a great concern about the power of large technology companies. Three out of four people are concerned about this issue. This year, Internet users feel more distrustful and jealous of their privacy than in the 20 previous editions of this survey. A large majority of respondents (77.6%) agree with the idea that false news or fake news They are a serious problem on the internet. In addition, 69.3% of Internet users are in favor of taking measures such as banning fake news and legally prosecute their creators. They also worry about privacy in social networks. Users who are "very worried" have risen from 50.9% to 55.5% in one year. And those who are "quite worried" are 80.3%, three points more than last year.

Home automation extends and evolves thanks to the internet. One in four respondents has a device connected to the internet that can be controlled from a mobile phone, a laptop or a tablet at home. The most common are security cameras (8.9%), heating (5.4 %%), lights (5.2%), small appliances (4.9%), smart plugs (4.9%) ) and large appliances (3.4%).

One in five surfers uses voice assistants such as Siri, Cortana or Google assistant assiduously, that is, several times a week. However, if we focus on the use of new Home assistants or smart speakers (Alexa from Amazon, Google Home Mini …), are attractive systems for 22.4% of respondents, however, do not draw attention to 50.1% of users, at least for now.

The new financial instruments

Money delivery systems between individuals are increasingly fashionable, a fact that is reflected in the report. These applications (for example Twyp or Bizum, which have been available for two years), are already used by 24% of respondents.

In addition, online banking is already fully integrated into the lives of Internet users. The vast majority of respondents are users of this system (86.5%, five percentage points higher than the percentage recorded two years ago).

Online shopping, an increasingly frequent phenomenon

More than half of the respondents (52.7%) made a purchase through the internet the week before the survey (three years ago the figure was 10 points lower), 81.3% have bought in the last 30 days and 91.1% in the last year. However, Internet users who have a high degree of confidence when making purchases online, although still at high levels, have dropped from 65.6% to 61.5% in the last year. These data are influenced by the fact that the number of online shoppers who have had some kind of incident in their purchases has increased (16 points more than in 2014). The most frequent incidents are non-compliance with the delivery deadlines followed by the fact that the characteristics of the product do not correspond to reality.
