The President of the Royal Yacht Club Trophy of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria concluded with the victory of Gustavo Castillo in the Snipe class; the couple Patri Reino – Isabel Laiseca won in class 420; and Yoel Hernández – Paula Barrio did the same in the 29er modality. In total 130 boats participated between classes, Optimist, Laser 4.7, Techno 293, 29er, 420 and Snipe.
The regatta was held on two weekends. On March 30 and 31 this trophy was held by the youth classes and senior with conditions of mild northwesterly winds and short wave; whereas on April 6 and 7 they were reserved for the three groups of the Optimist, those who went out to the sea to fight against a harsh Northeast with an average of 15 knots and sea in the background.
The modality Snipe It was the one with the largest number of participants, with 15 enrolled. A class that has managed to recreate a competitive fleet to play the important event of the next European Championship Master, to celebrate in May in Valencia.
In this trophy, Gustavo del Castillo returned to lead the classification, this time accompanied by Antonio del Castillo Olivares. Javier Padrón and Kevin González were always close, having a strong trophy start. On the other hand, the people of Tenerife Joaquín Botella and José Antonio Cruz; In addition to local Miguel Beneyto and Rosa Lancho, alternated the following positions, in third and fourth position respectively.
Class 420 had a weak participation with only 6 boats on the starting line. In spite of being one of the most numerous classes of this club, most of the fleet had its boats in Galicia, since last weekend a national appointment was disputed. In this edition of the Presidential Trophy, Patri Reino and Isabel Laiseca won with authority. Samuel Beneyto – Edu Ojeda was the most difficult to get the second place, competing strongly with the female crew Julia de Juan and Carla Núñez who confirmed their upward trajectory.
In the 29er class, Yoel Hernández and Paula Barrio gave no option to the Sara Cantero – Sara Ortega duo, winning all the races. They were joined by the duo Pablo Quintana and Pepe Peña. The sailors of this class compete next week in the Championship of Spain organized by the Nautical Club from April 16 to 20.
In the Roof 293 class David Clemente won with the win while in Laser 4.7 Sergio Carbajo got the first place on the podium, tied in points with Ernesto Suárez.
The youngest sailors of the Nautical, grouped in the numerous Optimist class, had the visit of a representation of the Real Club Marítimo de Santander, with six athletes led by the Canarian monitor Jorge Angulo, currently in Cantabrian lands where it has been established personally and professionally.
The conditions of fresh wind of 15 to 20 knots and sea of the background made this sporting event, an unbeatable opportunity to finalize the set-up of the Gran Canaria team that will participate in the next Championship of Spain to be held in Valencia, from the 14th to the 19th. April where there are many possibilities that this Club makes podium. In this trophy Alvaro Alonso won the game to Javier Ojeda, while Jaime Ayarza was third this time. Alejandra Pérez was in 4 position and Pol Nuñez in fifth, letting glimpse with these results, the great possibilities of getting a national title, both in the absolute classes, as feminine or sub-13.
