Sergio García maintains the lead after finishing fourth

BORJA GONZALEZ Circuit of Barcelona-Catalonia

The Moto3 race in Montmeló was as tense as expected, on a weekend of high temperatures that suggested that it was going to be a complicated Sunday for the riders to manage. The plan of the favorites seen what was seen in training, especially Dennis Foggia and Izan Guevara, and to a lesser extent Sergio García, did not bear fruit. They tried to impose a breakaway pace to break up the group, but it remained very compact. In fact, it did not break until lap nine, although earlier, on lap six, one of the key moments of the day was experienced: a problem with the chain that left the author of pole position, Foggia, offside. one of those fighting for the title. And three turns later, an incident involving David Salvador, Ryusei Yamanaka and Dani Holgado left the head with seven members. Among them Guevara and García, also Tatsuki Suzuki and Deniz Öncü, and three other Spaniards: Jaume Masiá, Adrián Fernández, not used to those positions, and the surprising David Muñoz. The Sevillian, a native of Brenes, had made his debut last week at the Italian Grand Prix, just after reaching the minimum regulatory age, 16, and after missing the first seven appointments on the calendar.

That group of seven was first compacted until it reached 13 components, and then it was broken when Guevara decided to go on the attack. Jorge Martínez Aspar's pupil set a higher pace than his rivals which allowed him to go solo for victory, his second this year, the third since he competed in Moto3. Behind, García, Muñoz and Suzuki played for the rest of the podium, a battle in which the youngest of all shone, who took second place in his second race and added his name to the endless list of talents Spanish people. Suzuki finished third, with García fourth, who remains the leader of Moto3, now with a 16-point advantage over his teammate Guevara.
