Granada, co-leader after the fight with Getafe

He Pomegranate became the co-leader of LaLiga Santander after achieving a hard-fought victory against the Getafe (0-1), who succumbed in a Very tactical and locked duel that Ángel Montoro broke with a penalty in the added time of the first part.

The Alfonso Pérez Coliseum was the scene of a hard duel, surly, rocky, imprecise and with a fight, a lot of fight. On this occasion, it was always noble, without excesses, but abundant. The styles of both clubs, very marked by the non-negotiable concept of sweat imposed by their technicians, collided like a freight train to offer an ugly but exciting show.

The winner of the stake was going to take the prize of matching Real Madrid. That award was not just anything and the possibility of not making an effort on the field was not in the script of any of the 22 players who took to the field.

In Getafe, José Bordalás did not hesitate to line up the eleven that beat Barcelona last day. In front, he found a team with four important casualties such as Duarte, Víctor Díaz, Maxime Gonalons and Roberto Soldado. In addition, after the historic victory in the Europa League in Eindhoven, Diego Martínez gave rest to important names such as Luis Milla or Darwin Machís.

With that script, and with the constant rain that fell on the Coliseum grass as the last ingredient to spoil the crash, the first half passed very slowly between whistle and whistle due to the constant fouls that referee Jesús Gil Manzano had to decree. The number was incredible. In total, they accumulated up to 20 in the first part. Almost one every two minutes.

With hardly any fluidity anywhere, except the verticality of Marc Cucurella at Getafe and Robert Kenedy at GranadaThe chances came with a dropper and almost always from set pieces except for two attempts by the men mentioned.

The first, was able to score with a shot from outside the area that Germán deflected and hit the crossbar. The second, he tried with a spur that Djené Dakonam cleared at the last moment. That was it, except for a “near shot” by Venezuelan Yangel Herrera after a dangerous free kick by Montoro, who in the end was the only one who could celebrate a goal.

At the edge of the break, he transformed a penalty committed by Djené on Yangel Herrera. The Getafe defender flopped the ball to the Venezuelan and then was able to drag his rival. Gil Manzano interpreted that it was a maximum penalty, he did not review the VAR and Montoro opened the scoring. Granada had half a game won. Whoever scored was going to caress the three points.

For this reason, to avoid it, in the resumption Bordalás bet on Ángel Rodríguez. He removed Jaime Mata from the field to look for more mobility and speed. Later, he would end up with another striker on the field, the Turk Enes Ünal, with whom he would try, together with “Cucho”, to open the wall built by Granada.

Precisely it was “Cucho” who had one of the clearest chances. The Colombian forward has not stopped working since the championship began. He has assisted his teammates in several goals. Everything he has done has been almost perfect, except the goal. He seems fought with the art of scoring and against Granada he wasted a very clear shot from inside the area that he launched right where the goalkeeper Rui Silva was.

Getafe, with the changes, won vertically and at least was able to besiege Granada’s goal without much trouble. Only Enes Ünal, with a header to the crossbar after a free kick by David Timor was able to equalize with six minutes to go. The crossbar avoided it and Granada left with the three-point prize with which it gained momentum towards the leadership shared with Real Madrid.
