Gran Canaria marks its worst day of the pandemic



The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has notified this Wednesday 816 infections of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, a new daily record since the pandemic began and that so far was at 731 infections recorded on July 15.

Since Tuesday there have been no new deaths, although there have been fifteen more people admitted to hospitals, up to a total of 390, of which 62 are in the ICU (six more) and 328 in the ward (nine more).

By islands, in Tenerife there have been 436 new infections, in Gran canaria 306, in Fuerteventura 36, in La Palma 18, in Lanzarote 11 and on La Gomera 9.

The cumulative incidence indicators continue to set new highs for the pandemic: 209.66 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days and 372.71 in the last fourteen days.

The infected people in the Canary Islands Since the pandemic was declared, there are 71,430, 3.3 percent of the population, and of them 804 have died, 61,470 have been discharged and 9,156 are still active cases.

On Tenerife there are 5,575 active cases, in Gran canaria 2,786, in Fuerteventura 419, in Lanzarote 165, in La Palma 157, in La Gomera 45 and on El Hierror 9.

In the Canary Islands 1,747,886 diagnostic tests have been carried out, 8,805 of them on Tuesday.
