Andreu Buenafuente and Silvia Abril repeat for the second consecutive year as presenters of the gala of the Goya Awards, whose 34th edition will be held this Saturday at the José María Martín Carpena Sports Palace in Malaga, and that promises to be a "visual entertainment show".
This edition, in which 'Pain and glory', 'Weathering', 'The infinite trench', 'O that burns' and 'While the war lasts' is it so Goya nominees a Best film, will feature the musical performances of the British Jamie Cullum, Antonio Banderas with his 'A chorus line', Rayden, Ana Mena and Pablo Alborán.
As the ceremony masters advanced this week, in this gala they will not be "especially sarcastic" nor will they give "too much cane to anyone" because it is "the film festival". Therefore, the objective will be "not to blur" but "not to disappoint", in the words of Buenafuente.
The "mystery" and the "surprises" They are two of the ingredients of this edition, in which it is still unknown who will pick up the Goya of Honor to Pepa Flores, artistically known as Marisol. One of her daughters, the artist Celia Flores, as well as the singer Amaia, will participate in the tribute to the winner.
The gala of the 34th edition of the Goya Awards will feature the presence of President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, who will become the second president of the Executive who goes to the Goya, after José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who attended the Goya gala in 2005.
Likewise, the presence of the Minister of Culture and Sport, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, the Minister of Consumption, Alberto Garzón, the leader of Cs, Inés Arrimadas, the president of the Junta de Andalucía, José Manuel Moreno; or the director of ICAA, Beatriz Navas.
New "big head"
Among the novelties of this edition of the Goya Awards, which leaves Madrid for the third time after the 2000 galas in Barcelona and 2019 in Seville, highlights the new design of the "big head", the third in the more than 30 years of awards history, as explained to Europa Press the coordinator of the Goya Awards and Attention to the academic, Nieves Martínez.
This new award, a new bust of the Aragonese painter, exact replica of the work of the sculptor Mariano Benlliure of 1902, it will have a "softer" and "more defined" shape and its weight will range between 2.5 and 3 kilos.
Faced with this change, the sculptor José Luis Fernández, creator of the "big head" which has been delivered since the fourth edition, has affirmed in an open letter to which Europa Press has had access to having felt "not at all" and has criticized that an open and public contest for the new design has not been called.
On the other hand, in this edition of the Goya, envelopes with the names of the winners will carry, as a novelty, a tab that will facilitate the reading of the winners and that will allow them to be opened "easily".
In addition, and after last year's experience in Seville, the organization has enabled a red carpet space for the public to attend, and it has been decided to place some screens on the outside from which those who come can the course of the awards ceremony.
