Getafe FC have exercised their right of purchase on left-back Marc Cucurella after paying 10 million euros to Barcelona and he has kept 90% of the player’s rights in property as of this July.
After his transfer to Eibar in the 2018/19 season, Cucurella returned as a loan to Getafe last summer. That agreement with Barcelona set a purchase option for 6 million euros plus 40 percent of a future sale of the player.
However, the Barcelona club’s need for money to balance its accounts before the end of the financial year has led to a change in the conditions of the agreement, the amount of which rises to 10 million, but in exchange it drops to 10 percent on a future player sale.
Cucurella, 21, arrived at the Barcelona youth academy in 2012 and went through several lower categories of the club until reaching debut with the first team in the Copa del Rey, in a duel against Murcia played on October 24, 2017. That was his only official match before trying his luck in Eibar and Getafe, where he has established himself as an important player for José Bordalás.
Kenedy and Deyverson do not follow
Getafe announced this Tuesday, through an official statement, that the Brazilians Robert Kenedy and Deyverson Silva, on loan until June 30 from Chelsea and Palmeiras, respectively, will not continue in the Madrid club.
The first arrived at Getafe last summer on loan from the English team with a purchase option that ultimately will not be exercised by the entity chaired by Ángel Torres. In total, the left-winger has participated in 27 games, almost always overshadowed by Marc Cucurella.
For his part, Deyverson, who already said goodbye to Getafe a few days ago, arrived on loan to the Madrid team in the winter market and, like Kenedy, had a purchase option that will not be exercised by the blue team. His best moment was achieved with a goal against Ajax in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32.
“The players will stop wearing the Azulona shirt from June 30 due to the end of their loan and connection contracts. From the club we thank them for their contribution and the services provided, in addition to wish you the best for your next professional career“Getafe announced on its official website.
Now, Getafe must address the status of other players who are also on loan. It is the case of Jason Remeseiro (Valencia) and Nigerian Peter Etebo (Stoke City).
