Gasoline consumption in 2020 plummeted to levels of 47 years ago

The consumption of automotive fuels in 2020 fell by 17.5% compared to 2019, up to 23,784 million tons, falling back to 1998 levels, according to Cores.
However, the decrease in gasoline consumption was 21% (4.25 million tons), plummeting to 1973 levels.
In the case of automotive diesel, the drop was less, 16.7%, to 19,534 million tons, figures similar to those of 2002.
The drop registered in 2020 in fuel consumption breaks a streak of six consecutive years to the rise, according to Cores.
