La Gran Canaria Frontón King, test belonging to the World Bodyboard Circuit, It will be held in Gáldar from October 17 to 31, although this time it will be without the presence of the public due to the pandemic and to ensure the safety of athletes.

The competition in the wave of El Frontón will be played in the open and female categories and will feature some of the most outstanding international athletes, such as the current world champion Tristan Robert, Pierre Louis Costes or Amaury Lavernhe in the open category, the organization has reported this Tuesday in a statement.

For its part, the women’s category is headed by the current world tour champion, Sari Ohhara, Isabella Sousa and Alexandra Rinder.

These international competitors will be joined by the best national and local players such as Jonathan Vega, William Luján or Dailos Rodríguez, as well as Teresa Padilla and Lara Ascanio.

The mayor of Gáldar, Teodoro Sosa, highlights “the attractiveness of this area of ​​the municipality, with three unique waves that converge in an internationally known place” and which is “the golden mile” for bodyboard fans.

Specific, last year’s edition of the test was followed by more than 3 million people, while more than 9 interacted through networks and videos transmitted live on the internet.

The World Cup Gran Canaria Fronton King 2020 has implemented the necessary sanitary measures and protocols for the celebration of the sporting event for which this year the accesses to the wave of El Frontón will be closed in order to celebrate it without public.
