Health confirms 293 new cases in people over 60 years old

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, following the new
indicators collected in the Surveillance and Control Strategy for covid-19, agreed by the Ministry of Health with the autonomous communities, reports that since the last data update the
last tuesday have been counted in the archipelago
293 new positives in covid-19 among people over
60 yearswhich is the population group that is monitored after passing the acute phase of the pandemic.

Therefore, the accumulated number of cases of coronavirus among this group in the Canary Islands amounts to
97,031 people. Thus, the Cumulative Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 181.50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 95.09.

Currently, in the Archipelago there are
83 people admitted by coronavirusof which
four are in the ICU and the rest, 79, on the ward. By On the other hand, in the last three days there have been
six deaths, two notified in Tenerife, two in Gran Canaria and two in La Palma. Everybody,
aged between 69 and 94 yearshad previous pathologies and was hospitalized.

Healthcare capacity

The Ministry of Health reports that since last August 12, and in compliance with the
Resolution of August 5 of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, in the calculation of beds occupied by patients with covid-19, the number of beds occupied by patients with pneumonia or acute respiratory infection or another pathology that is considered attributable is taken into account to a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
