The Cuyás Theater, in a resilience attack, has turned adversities into opportunities. The site, forced to suspend three of the works planned to celebrate its twentieth anniversary – the Ballet of Víctor Ullate, What we do with Walter and The crazy cage-, has rescheduled the closing of the 2019-20 season with the announcement of four shows: Nudity, Children, Pack and Old friend Cicero.
The change, for reasons beyond the control of the Cuyás Theater – as reported by the Cabildo venue itself – brings to Gran Canaria a show awarded with three Max in 2018: Nudity, which last year won the Best Show awards Dance, Best Male Dance Performer and Best Choreography.
Directed, choreographed and interpreted by Daniel Abreu from Tenerife (National Dance Award 2014), Nudity He won three Max awards in 2018 (Best Dance Show, Best Male Dance Performer and Best Choreography) and also has the participation of the 2019 National Dance Award, the Gran Canaria Dácil González.
Nudity It is a poetic proposal about knowing how to love oneself. Two figures participate on the scene pointing to an idea of polarity and travel from death to love, which accompanies the music. "Nudity," Abreu and González explain, "is an act of death, such as exhalation, taking everything out for Let something new begin and at the same time nudity is to build with the illusion that this was the definitive thing.
With a single pass on April 25, Nudity it will replace in the programming the performance of the already dissolved Ballet of Víctor Ullate.
Already in June, Children will replace days 5 and 6 to the show What do we do with Walter?, initially planned on those same dates. This is a proposal by Kamikaze Teatro released just a few days ago, directed by David Serrano from a text by Lucy Kirkwood and with Adriana Ozores, Susi Sánchez and Joaquín Climent as protagonists.
On June 12 and 13 it will be the turn of Pack, Jordi Casanovas's work directed by Miguel del Arco addresses the trial of those accused of the famous and unfortunate case of The pack, in which a young woman was raped by a group of men during the San Fermín festivities.
Old friend Cicero, starring Josep María Pou, will be exhibited on the 19th and 20th of the same month, replacing, like the previous one, of The crazy cages.
The Cuyás Theater will automatically return the amount of their tickets to those who bought them online. Those who had done it at the box office should go to it with their locations before June 27.
