Former Argentine President Carlos Menem is hospitalized two days after being discharged

Former President of Argentina Carlos Menem (1989-1999) was hospitalized again on Wednesday night, on the eve of his 90th birthday, just two days after being discharged after more than two weeks hospitalized with severe pneumonia, local media reported.

The former Peronist president, who has been a senator for his native La Rioja province since 2005, is in the intensive care area of ​​the Los Arcos Sanatorium in Buenos Aires and his condition is “delicate,” sources close to the politician told the Clarín newspaper.

At the moment, the details of this new hospitalization were not specified.

Menem had been admitted on June 13 in the intensive care unit of the Argentine Institute of Diagnosis in Buenos Aires, with a picture of pneumonia, but he went to the plant several days later and finally, on Monday of this week, he was discharged for follow the recovery at home.

The political veteran, who suffers from diabetes and had heart problems in the past, had tested negative for coronavirus.
