Around 3,000 reprisals by the Franco regime were assassinated in the La Almudena cemetery in Madrid and did not have an accredited burial. Not even their names appear anywhere in the cemetery because the City Council decided to tear them away from the memorial that dignified his life and death. Where are the mortal remains of those people? For years, their relatives thought that they had been cremated starting in 1981 at the Carabanchel Crematorium. It was not an assumption, the funeral service company indicated it that way. The recent appearance of human remains in ossuaries that were believed to have been unearthed now suggests that what they were told may not be entirely true.
