The clouds over Ford's Valencia factory pile up. The management of Ford Motor Company announced today thatthe Ford Transit Connect vanthat until now I placed in the United States from theAlmussafes plant will be manufactured from a factory in Mexico, which will affect the production plans of the Valencian factory. This vehicle is part of the urban landscape of New York, where the Connect is one of the official models of the taxi companies of the New York City.
The Valencia plant manufactures this van since 2011, whose production started parallel to the Kuga, and entailed an investment of 582 million euros. It is produced exclusively for all of Europe. Ford Spain exports eight out of ten units and the van that will be marketed in countries of Asia or the United States.
At the moment, the Transit Connect vanmeans more than 25% of vehiclesthat are assembled in Almussafes. Specifically, last 2018 there were almost 110,000 units of the different van lines, an important snack of the 380,403 vehicles that were launched from València. The volume of Transit Connect export to that market ranges between 35,000 and 40,000 units per year and highlighted that the Valencian factory will continue to assemble this model for commercialization in the European market.
