Ford has announced an employment regulation file with 630 layoffs and the disappearance of the night shift at the Almussafes plant in Valencia.
The announcement was made at a meeting called by the management for this Monday, union sources have informed the EFE agency.
At the moment the Almussafes factory, which has about 7,000 workers, is applying an ERTE according to which it will stop its activity between March 22 and April 1 due to the lack of components and the adequacy it needs for the production of the GDi engine.
The plant has already started March without days of full production after carrying out production stoppages in January and February. Except for a few days in January, the factory has not reached the production of 1,640 units on practically any day so far this year.
As stated by the company, “the production volume of the plant will be adjusted at the beginning of April to adapt to the new production needs.” Car sales they have not raised their heads in Spain after the worst of the pandemic. February closed with a 39% year-on-year drop in sales.
