A hotel just for them. The Som Hotels chain has made a strong commitment to differentiate itself from the competition and this summer has opened in Mallorca the doors of Som dona, an establishment created specifically for women as if it were an authentic oasis of relaxation. He is the only one in Spain.
Located in Porto Cristo, this 'women only' hotel closes its first season this week with an average occupancy of 85 percent since it opened on June 14. "Given that it is the first year, the establishment has had a good reception and the occupational level has been very good," they celebrate from the chain.
Directed by Antònia Iturbide, Som Dona arises from the need of the Mallorcan brand Som Hotels to differentiate itself from the competition. "We are a young chain and we are clear that we want to bet on less traditional options. After a market study in which we contemplate several trends, the current women only stood out among its competitors and was declared the winner. "This is explained by Joan Enric Capellà, the CEO of the hotel company.
In addition to bet on less traditional offers, the chain is a pioneer since, according to its market study, there are hotel establishments that offer a plant or themed rooms for women, but Capellà says that "as a holiday hotel, Som Dona is the first in the world".
To create it, they have been inspired by the adults only establishments that the hotel chain already has. "They have served as a model for operational issues," acknowledges the CEO of Som Hotels.
And why only one for them? The answer is clear: there is demand. And it is that the establishment offers a service that a certain public demands. Capellà says that they have all kinds of customers but in this first season of Som Dona, the mothers and daughters who wanted to enjoy a few days of tranquility have stood out; the groups of friends, and also the couples. "The hotel is an oasis of relaxation for disconnect from the stress of daily life where the clients find services adapted to all tastes. "This is how the hotel managers define the philosophy that the establishment gives off.
And to become an oasis of relaxation, the range of activities offered is the most varied: from yoga with a healthy breakfast, excursions by bicycle, beauty treatments or massages to specific courses of image consulting. Anyway, Capellà recognizes that they are in a learning phase and they take into account the demands of the clients in order to implement them next season, which will start on April 3, 2020.
The architect Neus Serra and the decorator Kika Sagristán have been in charge of printing a "femininity with Mediterranean style" in the unique establishment for women of Porto Cristo, with round shapes throughout the hotel. In addition, the pool with a "beach style" is "what customers liked the most".
Also, in Som Dona, women are employees who work in the hotel for the public, although as a chain they have workers of both sexes who serve all their establishments.
