At least five people died and another eight are missing due to the collapse of a commercial plaza under construction in Monterrey, capital of the northern Mexican state of Nuevo León, sources of civil protection reported today.
The construction of three to five levels in the Cumbres del Sol sector of Monterrey collapsed on Thursday at noon when there were more than twenty workers, said Civil Protection of the State of Nuevo Leon.
Five people have died in the collapse, two are injured and it is presumed that at least eight more are among the debris of the work, authorities said.
Rescuers of Civil Protection, firefighters of Nuevo Leon, and even military and municipal police are already in the place of collapse.
This is the second square under construction that suffers a collapse after last July a part of a shopping center in the south of Mexico City collapsed.
