Five communities in the Mediterranean area on alert for rain, wind and waves



Five autonomous communities in the Mediterranean area are now on alert for rain, swell or wind caused by a storm that will affect the entire area until next Thursday, reports the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) on its website.

Almeria is on orange alert (significant risk) for rains, which may leave up to 30 liters in one hour in the Almeria Levante and Campo de Tabernas, 25 liters in one hour in Poniente, Almería Capital, Almanzora Valley and Los Vélez, and between 80 and 100 liters already in 12 hours in practically all the province.

The wind will blow from the northeast with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour on the coast, where three meter waves will be recorded.

In Murcia, the orange warning is activated by coastal phenomena with north and northeast wind force 7 to 8 with waves of three to four meters, and there is yellow warning for rains that will leave up to 20 liters in an hour in Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón and 15 liters in one hour in Guadalentín Valley, Lorca and Águilas, Vega del Segura.

In that community, there is yellow warning by wind, which will blow from the northeast with gusts of 70 and 80 kilometers per hour, and by coastal phenomena with waves of up to 3 meters.

In the Valencian Community, Alicante is on orange alert for coastal phenomena, with northeast wind force 8 and waves of three to four meters, and on yellow alert (risk) for rains that will leave up to 30 liters in an hour on the coast and gusts of wind up to 70 kilometers per hour.

In Valencia, the alert level is yellow, due to rains that will accumulate up to 30 liters in one hour on the south coast and 80 liters in 12 hours, and northeast wind force 7 that will generate waves between two and three meters.

In the Balearic Islands, Aemet has activated the orange alert for rainfall that may leave 40 liters in one hour in practically the entire northern half of the island of Mallorca, 30 liters in the south, and 20 liters in the interior and the Tramontana mountain range .

In Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera the warning is yellow, where the rain can accumulate up to 20 liters in one hour.

Throughout the archipelago, the wind will blow east and northeast force 7 with waves of three meters.

In Catalonia the yellow warning is due to coastal phenomena on the coast, with northeast wind force 7 and waves of 3 meters.

In the autonomous city of Melilla, the rain can leave 15 liters in one hour, the wind will blow with gusts of 70 kilometers per hour and the waves will reach three meters on the coast.

Aemet expects that the conditions that have given rise to this storm will cease next Thursday 5.
