As the great national and international platforms did in their day, the Spanish Filmin is now launching its own production of T.V. series with the adaptation of the novel ‘Doctor Portuondo’ by Carlo Padial, whose filming will begin next month in Barcelona.
The versatile Pardial (Barcelona, 1977) will be the in charge of directing the adaptation of his own novel which in the series will star the Cuban Jorge Perugorría (‘Strawberry and chocolate’, ‘Winds of Havana’) and Nacho Sánchez (‘Seventeen “,” The Ministry of Time’).
“The start of production of our first series reaffirms Filmin’s desire to constantly evolve by offering the audience a differentiated and complete offer.. The first day of filming ‘Doctor Portuondo’ marks a new milestone for Filmin, reaching the age of majority as a platform, “said Juan Carlos Tous, founder and CEO of the platform launched in 2010, in a statement published this Monday.
Edited in 2017 by Blackie Books, ‘Doctor Portuondo’ is “a funny regression of autobiographical dyes to the therapy that the protagonist follows with Dr. Portuondo, a peculiar Cuban psychoanalyst who yells at his patients, swears on behalf of Freud and drinks Johnnie Walker whiskey. ”
Filming will begin in Barcelona on March 8 and the series is scheduled to see the light of day next October. It is a Filmin production with La Chica de la Curva and will be produced under the Filmin Original label, which will group all the original productions of the platform from now on.
In the opinion of Carlo Pardial (director of the comedy ‘Algo muy gordo’, starring comedian Berto Romero), this series is “a unique opportunity” to “go through the couch” of a therapist, “Even as spectators, through a fiction that helps us understand ourselves and the people we meet, always from humor.”
