The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso, along with his teammates in the car number 8 of the Toyota Gazoo Racing team Sebastian Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima, achieved the triumph in the Sebring 1000 Miles, sixth appointment of the FIA World Endurance Championship, ahead of unit 7 of Toyota, which has sealed the double of the Japanese brand.

In this way, the car that commands the Spanish with the Swiss and the Japanese is consolidated in the leadership of the World Resistance (135), now with 15 points of advantage over its twin unit, which is driven by the Japanese Kamui Kobayashi, the British Mike Conway and the Argentine José María Pechito López (120). Those surpassed the 11, made up of the New Zealander Brendon Hartley and the Russians Mikhail Aleshin and Vitaly Petrov.

In the circuit of Florida (United States), the Toyota number 8 commanded almost from beginning to end the test. When the Spaniard took the witness of Buemi, he increased the advantage over his pursuers, despite an incident of SMP Racing with one of his cars. The crash of Toyota's number 7, when he was driving Pechito Lopez, with an Aston Martin, finished the test. The Argentine had to go through garages to change the carcass and gave up two laps on Alonso's car.

The Spaniard got back on the car on lap 181. The rain made an appearance and threatened to put emotion in the final stretch of the appointment, but the positions were maintained and the Toyota number 8 climbed to the top of the podium. After the appointment of Sebring, only two tests remain for the conclusion of the championship: the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, on May 4, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, between June 15 and 16.

"I am unbeaten in America in the races that I have run, so I hope that the streak continues like that, before we have to run in Spa, we must do the tests in 'Indy', step by step and enjoy this victory and a few sweet weeks" , he pointed. "In my last stage in Formula 1 I had the same brightness in my eyes, the same desire and I felt like a pilot like every Sunday here, I have a dominant car, with which we do first and second in all the qualifications and races , and when you take a trophy home every Sunday you know better, "concluded Alonso.
