Felipe VI and Sánchez meet with Peña Nieto in the final stretch of his term

Felipe VI and Sánchez, who has been accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and International Cooperation, Josep Borrell, have had lunch with Peña Nieto, who is preparing to leave office on December 1.

The conservative leader is immersed in the efforts to transfer the government to Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who won the presidential elections held last July in Mexico.

Peña Nieto himself has joked about his imminent departure from Los Pinos. "There is life after the Presidency," he said at the XII Business Meeting that was held after lunch and which also attended the heads of State and Government of Spain.
