The war for the price of milk is back. The agricultural union UPA has denounced this week the unfair prices paid at origin. According to UPA, the average price paid in 2020 was 0.332 euros per liter, below the 0.3626 that the latest studies place as the average cost of production. “Nobody can sell below costs and live to tell about it,” denounces Román Santalla, his secretary of Livestock. “Losing 3 cents per liter is unaffordable. We were already very fair because at 33 cents the accounts did not come out. But from week 37 of 2020 the costs skyrocketed. How do the industry and distribution intend for us to do it? It is impossible”.
