Evictions fell 9.5% in 2019, according to the Judiciary Council

The number of mortgage launches or evictions practiced in 2019 was 54,006, 9.5% less than a year earlier, according to data published Monday by the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) in its report on the effects of the crisis in the judicial organs.

The CGPJ notes that the number of foreclosures fell to 17,411, 36.5% less than a year earlier and the lowest figure since 2008.

It also highlights that although the releases derived from the non-payment of rent represent 67.5% of the total with 36,467, in 2019 they have fallen by 2.2%, thus breaking the upward streak of recent years.
