The president of the ERC group in the Parlament, Sergi Sabrià, affirmed on Wednesday that his party will begin the electoral campaign of the general elections on April 28 in Sant Vicenç dels Horts, the town of the leader of his party and head of the list, Oriol Junqueras.
In a statement to Ràdio 4, Sergi Sabrià, who will again be the head of campaign, has advanced that Esquerra Republicana will hold many events in the metropolitan area of Barcelona and has confirmed that "the most visible face" will be the number two candidate, Gabriel Ruffian.
"It will be a very pro-positive campaign in which we will make clear what we are going to do in Madrid, which is to defend the self-determination and independence of Catalonia, and for that we will explore all the possibilities," he said.
ERC, Sergi Sabrià explained, "wants to block a government of the extreme right, but also another of the PSOE with Citizens and, however, is not for the 'no to everything' nor for the blockade to any proposal."
"We want to do politics and move forward, we are not those who only want to block everything, like Front Republicà, we want to be guarantors of the will to dialogue, of social policies and always vote what is most favorable to Catalans, which does not take away that we block everything that harms them ".
On the pre-campaign slogan of ERC, "If you do not go, they will do it again", the president of this party in the Parlament has explained that responds to the will to explain to citizens that "there is a debate that does not fit reality".
"It is not focused well," he said, "because there is a PSOE that rises from the dialogue table in a brave and partisan way and calls elections wielding fear of the extreme right, and although it is true that the 'trifachito' is scary, surveys indicate that it does not add up, and that the most important risk is an agreement between the PSOE of Pedro Sánchez and Ciudadanos de Albert Rivera. "
According to Sergi Sabrià, a pact between PSOE and Cs "is equivalent to another 155 in Catalonia and to have ministers like Inés Arrimadas, on which we have already seen their level of aggression", and hence the motto of pre-campaign of ERC, has explained, in the sense of "warning that if the independence movement is not strong, Sánchez and Rivera will want to agree".
On the trial of independence leaders in the Supreme Court, Sabrià stressed that "despite the lies of some witnesses, and yesterday we saw some, although it does not seem that the court wants to proceed against them, they can not base their false story".
