Enrique Olivares García, the false priest who was sentenced in 2014 for assaulting the house of former PP treasurer Luis Bárcenas and kidnapping his family, has died at the age of 72 in Cuenca, according to El Día digital and has been confirmed by Europa Press.
Olivares died of natural causes at 8:00 am on Saturday, as confirmed by sources at the Ronda Alameda Funeral Home in Cuenca, where the wake has been set up.
The funeral was held this Sunday at 10:00 in the parish of Our Lady of Peace in Cuenca.
Olivares was sentenced to 22 years in prison for holding the Bárcenas family in their house in 2013, tying their hands and threatening them to hand over "the flash drives" and the information related to the former treasurer's process to "end the government of the nation". In order to gain access to the home, he disguised himself as a priest and, after a while, took out a pistol and kidnapped the family and the domestic worker who worked at the Bárcenas' house.
