Energy believes that electric incentives would be paid by consumers

The Secretary of State for Energy, José Domínguez Abascal, believes that the price of electricity paid by large industries in Spain is similar to that of other European countries and warns that any incentive applied to them should be paid by other consumers.

"The electrical system has to be economically balanced, and although it is a bit complicated to say, we all have to pay for it, that means that any exception implies funding by the rest of the actors, something that must be taken into account with great attention, "he said in statements to Efe.

Remember that in Spain aid is applied to electrointensive companies, for interruption of supply or for compensation of CO2 emissions, which show that the Government maintains "a policy of support and accompaniment" to the large industry, which has to be "compatible with the one of the European Union ".

He explains that the recent decree law on the Statute of Electro-intensive Consumers, accepted with rejection by these industries is in the public consultation phase, waiting for contributions from the different sectors involved.

This decree has been described as "insufficient" by the Association of Companies with Large Energy Consumption (AEGE), which considers that it has "broken the hopes" of the industry by not solving the problem they suffer because they do not have a competitive electric price.

Executives of the steel, chemical or cement employers' association have agreed to value the Government's initiative, but they have also denounced that they consider it "insufficient" to defend the competitiveness of these industries.

CCOO has warned that it poses very worrying uncertainties for the sector, while UGT has regretted that it does not have an in-depth impact on a competitive energy tariff for the industry.

The PP believes that the draft Statute is not feasible, since it has not been previously approved by Brussels, which could imply the opening of a sanctioning file, and blames the Government for the factory closures.
