Endesa has created a new brand associated with this strategy, Endesa X, with its own corporate color, the purple. In the words of José Bogas, CEO of the company, it is "a very ambitious plan". "It is evident that in the electricity sector we are going to have to make some very notable efforts so that by 2050 all the energy produced in the country will be renewable," he assured the media before presenting the strategy. at the Goya theater in Madrid.

The installation of 8,500 public access points will have an investment of 65 million euros, according to Bogas. In a first phase, between 2019 and 2020, 2,000 points will be operative that "will give access to infrastructure to 75% of the Spanish population". The objective is to connect the main cities (those with more than 35,000 inhabitants) and cover 15,000 kilometers of main roads. Between 2021 and 2022, another 6,500 charging points will arrive in urban areas, the main highways and the islands that will "saturate" the territory. In parallel, Endesa X plans to install 100,000 private points in both residential and corporate car parks.

Renewable electricity

According to Endesa, the public access charging points will have 100% certified electricity of renewable origin. The company also presented the different models of electrolinera that it has designed: for use in the home, in multiple recharges, fast recharges (the one that most resembles the current fuel pumps) and for urban refills, a design that combines the point of energy with a lamp or luminaire. According to the person in charge of e-mobility of Endesa X, Elena Bernárdez, these models could be of interest to town halls or large car parks that plan to change their lighting and want to combine the two services in a single installation.

The plan includes three types of load: the domestic one (at 3.7 kW); 22 kW semi-speed recharge points; Fast charging points of 50 kW and finally ultra-fast points of more than 150 kW, which allow charging to have a range of 100 kilometers in just seven minutes. At a normal point four hours are needed to travel those 100 kilometers, while in a fast one that time is reduced to between 30 and 40 minutes. As explained by Bogas, 35% will be normal, 50% fast loading and 15% ultrafast.

Freight cost

The cost of installing the first two types is between 20,000 and 30,000 euros. The ultra-fast reaches half a million euros, said the CEO of Endesa. Regarding the cost to recharge, Bogas pointed out that it is approximately one euro per megawatt-hour (MWh) in a household, and that the price to be topped up in the rest of the points is not yet decided, but it will be higher.

Josep Trabado, general director of Endesa X, assured that the company has already signed some agreements with electric car manufacturers so that, as a pack, who buys one of these vehicles hire the recharge point at the same time to install it in your house.
