The employers of the employment agencies Asempleo expects employment to grow 2.1% in 2019, with the creation of 400,000 new jobs, until the end of the year with 19.56 million employed.
Unemployment predicts that the Labor Force Survey (EPA) for the first quarter of the year, which will be known at the end of the month, will show a somewhat more negative behavior than that registered in the last two years in this period -standardly unfavorable-, partly "as a correction to the momentum registered at the close of 2018".
In the first three months of the year, Asempleo expects that the occupation will be reduced by 196,000 people and unemployment will increase by 36,000 people, raising the unemployment rate by three tenths to 14.7%.
The president of Asempleo, Andreu Cruañas, values the data and explains that the labor market manages to maintain the tone of expansion in the creation of employment and the reduction of unemployment in an environment of marked weakness of industrial activity and trade in the area of the euro, although the Spanish economy is not immune.
This ability to resist the fluctuations of the external environment is based in part on the recovery of employment in the construction sector and the strength of the hotel industry (which shows no signs of exhaustion) and public employment, says Cruañas.
