The State Public Employment Service (SEPE) has ordered “to close the in-person public service in its benefit offices”, starting tomorrow, Monday, March 16, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a press release. of the Ministry of Labor, Migrations and Social Security.
With this measure, “of an extraordinary nature” according to the Ministry, it is intended to meet the recommendations of the health authorities for reasons of public health, avoiding the displacement of citizens and face-to-face contact.
The work centers will continue to operate behind closed doors, guaranteeing the processing of unemployment benefits, and in the same way, according to the official statement, work is being done to strengthen telephone and electronic assistance.
The Ministry of Labor points out that SEPE has an Electronic Office to carry out procedures electronically, and it also has telephone attention to users and says that “it is also important to highlight that the suspension of terms has been decreed today and interruption of deadlines for administrative procedures, so as not to harm citizens “.
The closure of the Offices to the public is part of the set of measures adopted by the SEPE, in coordination with the Autonomous Communities, within the National Employment System.
