Electronic percussion and Afro-Latin rhythms in the masterclasses and concert of Mousik this week - La Provincia

The itinerant and free Masterclasses of Mousikê La Laguna, aim to cover a certain but important lack for creative and improvisation training in Modern Music. Since its creation in 2010, they have celebrated more than a hundred masterclasses that, also for free, can be enjoyed entirely on your YouTube channel.

Luis Suárez, one of the most talented percussionists in the Canary Islands, will give the three free masterclasses of Mousikê for this month of April as well as a single concert with the band Puertas al Sur, which presents his second work "Puertas adentro". Tickets are already on sale at a price of ten euros.

Under the heading of 'Electronic percussion', Luis Suárez masterclasses will address the following contents: style and trends; the importance of sound in electronic music and the most used effects; humanity in music (Loops, samplers and synthesizers in contrast to analog instruments); percussion in electronics, rhythms and language, perspectives of accompaniments and history of electronic music.

As for the post-masterclass concert, "Puertas adentro", from Puertas al Sur, is a tribute to the Afro-Latin roots of Latin American musical folk culture through the reinterpretation of its genres: cumbia, celebration, bomb or plena, Afro-Latin rhythms all -, through a modernized perspective through fusion with electronic-contemporary music and other elements not contemplated by the purist current. The repertoire of "Puertas adentro" focuses on the themes most in touch with tribal music and African influences, - Afro-Peruvian, Afro-Cuban, Afro-Puerto Rican, indigenous pre-Columbian music ... The Puertas al Sur members are: Beatriz Alonso (voice and effects ), Miguel Manescau (guitar) and Luis Suárez (percussion, pads and synthesizers).
