Electronic music returns to Sónar after two years of silence

It lasts until Sunday and its main attraction is the British duo The Chemical Brothers, the Berlin trio Moderat, the French duo Polo & Pan and the French epic electronica duo The Blaze. It also highlights the local talent of the urban scene C. Tangana, Nathy Peluso or Morad, as well as the emerging Ms Nina, Simona, Rojuu, Juicy Bae, El Bobe, the canaries Locoplaya, the Galician brothers Yugen Kala, or the duo mori, Rusowsky, who will do it in a new setting, the SonarPark by DICE, a place for some of the most risky proposals of Sónar by Day

Relevant names from the electronic scene are also invited, including The Blessed Madonna, Charlotte de Witte, Eric Prydz, Jayda G and Helena Hauff.

Sónar is making a special commitment this year to the new shows created for the festival, such as Niño de Elche + Ylia + Banda “La Valenciana”: 'Concert de músika festera', which will reinterpret the music of popular festivals in Valencia together with more than 80 musicians. Or that of Maria Arnal and Marcel Bagés presenting Hiperutopia, a new manifestation of their album Clamor in which they will be accompanied by the 36 voices of the Cor de Noies de l'Orfeó Català. It will not be the only choir, the Tarta Relena duo will collaborate for the first time on stage with a one made up of 16 voices. Another special creation is that of Samantha Hudson with the new live show Total Liquidation By Closing and Uncompressed will bring together Hainbach, Look Mum No Computer and Cuckoo in a unique performance.

The organization has sought to take care of the audiovisual and technological proposals and, along these lines, Arca will debut at Sónar by Night with a new show.

In total, Sónar 2022 will present 117 performances by more than 200 artists, spread over the 12 stages of Sónar by Day (Fira de Montjuïc) and Sónar by Night (Fira Gran Vía), in an edition in which the parallel congress takes on special importance of science, technology and creativity Sónar+D, with more than 60 exhibition and outreach activities.

These activities will feature artists, scientists and technologists such as Liam Young, Davide Quayola, Trevor Paglen & Kate Crawford, Michel André, Monira Al Qadiri & Raed Yassin, Bernie Krause, Mario Klingemann and Sougwen Chung.

In addition, during the five days that Sónar lasts, the organ of the Palau Güell will sound, automatically and without human assistance, thanks to the hybridization of the traditional organ with software technology and digital hardware, within SonarExtra, a parallel program to the festival held at Fira Montujuïc and Fira Gran Vía.
