The Maternal and Infant University Hospital of the Canary Islands, the Insular-Maternal and Child University University Hospital Complex, under the Ministry of Health of the Autonomous Government, has decided to join the campaign for another year Light up hope, which aims to show support to children affected by some type of cancer.
It is a global initiative that emerged from Childhood Cancer International and coordinated in the national territory by the Spanish Federation of Parents of Children with Cancer. Thus, for the fifth consecutive year, during the month of September, institutions and monuments in the country and around the world illuminate and install golden ties in support of children who suffer the consequences of this disease and to make this disease visible.
The capital hospital center wanted to adhere to this initiative by installing a golden ribbon abroad, a symbol that represents the youngest cancer patients from around the world, and is located in front of the Emergency Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
It should be noted that the campaign also aims to appeal to the entire society. To fulfill this task, it proposes an action in social networks that consists of sharing photographs of the golden bond under the hashtags # Turn on the Hope #PaintGold.
In Spain, childhood cancer has established itself as the leading cause of death due to illness in children and adolescents aged between the first year of life and 14 years.
